  • Garage Squad Season 1

I'm happy to announce that Chicago Assistant Camera has signed on to provide camera and data logistics for the Discovery Network's 'Garage Squad'. 'Garage Squad' is a unique type of show for Chicago Assistant Camera to do. Traditionally reality television is filmed on either Sony or Panasonic shoulder-mount broadcast cameras. Not with Garage Squad! Director of Photography Fred Miller knew that we could do better than that. After extensive testing, Miller and Chicago Assistant Camera started prepping two Canon C300s as the main cameras for the show.  Standing by and ready to go at all time, we have added 3 GoPro Hero 3+ and a Canon 5D MarkIII that we use sporadically for motion control time lapses and vehicle undercarriage shots. With tight editorial deadlines and the sheer amount of cameras being managed on 'Garage Squad', Chicago Assistant Cameras's near-set data management system is being used to provide check-sum data backup and generates camera reports for post, where we then have a rotation of shuttle drives that travel back and forth between set and the post house Bridges Media. Look out for 'Garage Squad' on Discovery's Velocity network later this summer!

  • Site Update

2013 has been quite the busy year here at Chicago Assistant Camera. That being said the site hasn't been updated in nearly 6 months! ChicagoAssistantCamera.com has been tied to NewYorkAssistantCamera.com and LosAngelesAssistantCamera.com as I've been doing more work on both the east and west coast. The company and I are still based in the windy city, but I'm reaching out as most of my clients are not actually based in Chicago. Over the next few weeks, new features of the site will be going live. If you have any questions or comments feel free to reach me via the contact page.
